How the home-loan EMI is calculated

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n ⁄ [ (1 + r)n − 1 ]

where P is the loan amount, r the monthly interest rate (annual ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n the number of months (years × 12).

Tax benefits (old regime): interest paid is deductible up to ₹2 lakh a year under Section 24(b) for a self-occupied home, and principal repayment counts within the ₹1.5 lakh Section 80C limit. First-time buyers may have additional benefits in specific years — plan it with us.
